Sourcing Analyst – Banbury

Location: Banbury

The Company:

Tibbetts Group is a family-owned business established over 40 years ago, with approximately 140 employees across four locations. The business has a global customer base with revenues exceeding £60m.


Role Overview:

To source quality suppliers that fit into our purchase strategy and add value to the business. Review and executive the purchasing strategy to drive cost down and ensure margins are maintained or improved, through effective negotiation, without impacting on the quality or service levels of the product.


Key responsibilities include:

To follow the business purchasing strategy, be it brand or quality led, and develop an effective supplier sourcing and management process.


Sourcing and Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) Management

  • Use RQF log and THINK TANK to approve new suppliers in order to win new business, liaising with the Sales team
  • Look at potential alternative suppliers to ensure continued supply of approved product where there are supply issues with main supplier
  • Manage new product approvals by liaising with Engineering/Product Manager
  • Ensure best cost always achieved



  • Ensure regular planned reviews with suppliers with focus on building business relationships, range fulfilment and cost saving initiatives
  • Manage prime suppliers effectively
  • Liaise with our agent in the Far East to ensure performance criteria is met with Far East suppliers


Product data sets

  • Manage and update product identify creation
  • Manage and update product descriptions
  • Manage and update prime supplier and sequences
  • Update and monitor of supplier lead times
  • Update and monitor supplier input costs
  • Manage and update product groups/classifications
  • Manage and update Bill of Materials (BOM) and structures



  • Sourcing suppliers for parts not linked with any suppliers (Product status – “Z”)
  • Reporting items sold at <30% – meeting with the Sales team to look at any key lines to achieve better costs
  • Liaise with Product Manager/Engineering and manage development log from procurement side with monthly reporting
  • Deal with invoice queries – work to resolve and find a long-term solution to all invoice queries

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous purchasing experience (Essential)
  • Qualified, or working towards CIPS qualification – Level 4 minimum (Essential)
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications (intermediate Excel) (Essential)
  • Strong attention to detail and must have proven experience of working at a detailed level (Essential)
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, analytical, trouble shooting and team building skills (Essential)
  • Ability to work well under pressure (Essential)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) (Essential)
  • Dealing with multiple geographical locations and languages (Desirable)
  • Must be organised, efficient and work methodically (Essential)
  • Industry knowledge/experience in the fastener market (Desirable)
  • Valid and current driving licence (Essential)
  • Valid and current passport – with no exclusions on overseas travel (Essential)
