History

The Tibbetts Group has evolved over the last 40 years with the business now being managed by an executive team, led by the current Group Managing Director, Jonathan Tibbetts. It was his father John Tibbetts who identified a gap in the market to supply automotive components following a successful career with global automotive component supplier Automotive Products.

1982 – Europarts Ltd

Founded by John Tibbetts, Europarts supplied clutch components and brake calipers to the UK automotive industry, offering large distribution networks  the opportunity to have collated ranges and a complete service.

1984 – EuroQuip Automotive Ltd

Founded by Trisha Tibbetts, EuroQuip Automotive supplied the automotive clutch Original Equipment and remanufacturing sectors with components such as release bearings, hydraulic actuators and friction material. The business soon evolved as customer requirements changed and Euroquip started to distribute the 3-in-1 clutch kit throughout the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

2005 – Tibbetts Group Ltd
In 2005, Europarts and Euroquip Automotive merged and the Tibbetts Group was created. This new company was a turning point in both growth strategy and leadership as two years later Jonathan took over as Managing Director.

2005 – Acquisition of Clutch Master UK
Clutch Master was acquired by the Tibbetts Group to enhance the product offer of clutch components and break into the specialised commercial vehicle clutch sector. With the acquisition, Tibbetts brought in customers, knowledge and the employees. Today commercial vehicle clutch remains a large part of the TGL division.

2013 – Acquisition of BF Component Solutions
Formally Bucks Fasteners. The acquisition of BF Component Solutions, now rebranded  BFC, has further enhanced the strategic view of the group and the Tibbetts processes have allowed BFC to grow further into 2nd tier automotive and aerospace sectors. The acquisition follows the set strategy of reducing the risk, increasing revenues whilst following group processes. In 2015, BFC moved into a new green field site, directly accessed from the M40 in Stokenchurch.

2014 – Creation of the new divisions

The group’s structure started to take place with acquisitions and organic growth. TGL is now synonymous with the automotive clutch sector, known through out the world and BFC is a specialist in the automotive, aerospace and industrial fastener supply sectors.

2016 – Acquisition of SFF & Electra Engineering

The acquisition of Electra Engineering and moreover the specialist security sector business, SFF, not only compliments the acquisitional strategy, but also brings in great expertise in a sector which Tibbetts does not operate today.

2017 – New Head Quarters and TGL facilities

All group functions and TGL division functions are located in a new, updated facility in Banbury, UK.

2018 – Acquisition of Powell Gee

Adding to, and perfectly complimenting the Tibbetts Group’s ever-growing portfolio, Powell Gee’s industry knowledge and offerings of Self-Drilling Screws to the roofing and cladding industries comes second-to-none.

2023 – Acquisition of In2components

BFC acquired Redditch based In2components, a specialist supplier of fasteners and wire suspension systems within lighting, trunking, heating and ventilation sectors. BFC and In2components can now offer their existing and new customers an expanded product portfolio.
