We are currently looking to recruit an Automotive Sales Engineer to be based at either our Banbury, Stokenchurch or Redditch office., as part of the BFC sales team, reporting into the BFC Sales Director.
Location: Banbury, Stokenchurch Or Redditch
Hours: Monday- Thursday 08:30am-5pm, Fridays 8:30am-3:30pm
Purpose:
To act as a co-ordinator for automotive enquiries, you will bring together the various group functions of sales, purchasing, engineering, quality and operations. To improve conversion rates and seamlessly deliver new business to the company.
The company currently receives high volumes of RFQ’s from key tier- 1 automotive customers throughout Europe and globally but has relatively low conversion rates and scramble’s to take activities through the key stages of project delivery.
As a successful co-ordinator, you will enhance the RFQ conversion rate, improve the on- time delivery of new product introduction and champion the customer project experience.
Key Responsibilities:
To Act as co-ordinator for customer RFQ’S through the following key stages:
- Receipt point for enquiries, either directly from customers or from internal sales colleagues
- Translation of enquiry to ensure all relevant information is available at the outset such as:
- Clear and full specification
- Quantity by year and longevity
- Delivery points
- Currency of sale
- Quality documentation requirements
- Cost- down economics request
- PPM Level
- Packaging requirements
- Liaise with customers to clarify missing or ambiguous information and manage communication with suppliers.
- Populate internal RFQ, Gateway, and Funnel documents, passing enquiries to procurement for cost sourcing from approved suppliers.
- Verify RFQ requirements, receive, and review costs and technical details from procurement.
- Issue and follow-up on quotations with customers, ensuring timely feedback and relationship building.
- Coordinate document requests (PRFPP/Feasibility Commitment), working with Engineering/Quality for completion and submission.
- Manage tooling/sample/PPAP orders, ensuring terms match quotations.
- Collaborate with product management, account managers, and sales administration to create and load sales orders into Winman.
- Work with procurement, quality, and operations to manage sample orders, production details, and part specifics.
- Follow up on sample submissions and ensure customer feedback is addressed.
- Monitor series orders, liaising with supply chain and customers for timely delivery and scheduling.
- After first bulk delivery, transfer part responsibility to the customer account manager.
- Serve as a point of reference for commercial agreements and RFQ terms.
Role Requirements:
- Engineering Degree (essential)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering/customer drawings and specifications(essential)
- Microsoft Excel ( intermediate to advanced level)
- Ability to form and nurture customer relationships
- Ability to work with cross- department colleges
- Capacity to adhere to time management disciplines
- Execute good attention to detail
- Understanding of business processes from receipt of RFQ through to delivery of bulk product
