This month, we celebrate the role of Powell Gee’s Sales Director, Paul Strong. In our latest Colleague Spotlight, Paul reflects on his 46 years’ experience in the construction markets, his current projects and wider hobbies.
What is your day-to-day role at The Tibbetts Group?
“In my role as Sales Director of the Powell Gee division at The Tibbetts Group, day-to-day, I endeavour to develop mutually beneficial trading relationships with existing key accounts, prospecting new clients and working with the Powell Gee sales team to deliver exceptional customer service.”
How long have you worked at The Tibbetts Group?
“I am in my fifth year; I joined Powell Gee in March 2021.”
What is your favourite aspect of your role?
“I enjoy visiting customers and getting to know their business, interacting with people in a face-to-face environment.”
Are there any significant projects which you are currently working on?
“The main project at the moment is the integration of the CFT business which we have acquired.”
What are your future projects or goals?
“We are continuing to grow our market share, and my goal is to develop Powell Gee sales both in the UK and the rest of Europe where we already have an increasing number of customers.”
Have you worked in this role throughout your career?
“Yes, I have been selling products into the construction markets for 46 years, literally since I left school.
“I have predominantly led sales operations that have marketed products utilised in the building envelope, such as insulated glass, aluminium facades and curtain wall to major contractors, before I switched to roofing & cladding fixings with Powell Gee”.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“I enjoy reading non-fiction books and going on countryside walks.”
Do you have a particularly interesting hobby?
“I’m attempting to learn to play the guitar at the moment; I have an acoustic guitar at home.”
Do you follow a sports team?
“I follow Stoke City FC, as they are my local team.”
What is your favourite film or television genre?
“I like watching action films; I don’t watch that much television to be honest.”
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
“The Abruzzo region of Italy, as I lived there for a short while when I was growing up.”
What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?
“I’m currently planning on hiking the South West Coast Path.”
