What is your role at The Tibbetts Group?

“As TGL Sales Director, The Tibbetts Group is a great place to work. The opportunity to work alongside our fantastic sales team, regional agents and internal stakeholders, makes the role very diverse, very interesting and not one day is the same.”

How long have you worked at The Tibbetts Group?

“I’ve been at TGL for five years. I started just before the pandemic kicked in, so it was an unusual time to start. But to be honest, I don’t know where those five years have gone. It’s absolutely flown by, and it’s been an enjoyable ride.”

Any particular highlights from your time so far?

“A highlight, from a personal side, would be my career development within the Group in those five years. I originally joined Tibbetts as the Commercial Vehicle Manager, and that quickly changed to become the Sales Manager, and then Global Sales Manager, and then as I stand today as the Sales Director.

“Within the business, I’ve been given the opportunity to develop and it’s great to work at a company that likes to invest in their people.”

Are there any significant projects which you are currently working on?

“Regional development, whether that be directly within our sales team or with our sales agents, is a major ongoing project for us – focusing specifically on passenger cars and commercial vehicles sectors.

What are your future projects or goals?

“I’m always excited for us to explore new ways of enhancing our effectiveness and efficiency – unlocking even greater impact with the resources we already have.”

Have you worked in this role throughout your career?

“I started in the automotive aftermarket back in 1991, and I started working at a company called Quinton Hazell as a Material Handler in the warehouse.

“I’ve been very, very fortunate throughout my career for the simple reason that I’ve worked alongside some fantastic people who have not only encouraged me but also supported me. These people provided that foundation for me to develop and move forward. I’ll always be grateful for that.

“Not only have I worked alongside a wide array of people, many of them I’m still in contact with today and would class as friends.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

“The most enjoyable thing that I do outside of work is spending time with my family. They are my absolute foundation, my rock, and family is the reason why we get up and push ourselves.”

Do you have a particularly interesting hobby?

“Myself and my wife like walking. We find it a really nice way to relax and be outside. We lead such busy lives, and going for a walk for a few hours is just a wonderful time to get that clear headspace and to decompress.

“We’re very fortunate that we live near a canal, so we have some really nice canal walks, which takes us out into the countryside. It’s very peaceful.”

Do you follow a sports team?

“I really enjoy watching rugby – particularly rugby union, the England national team, and the six nations.”

What is your favourite film or television show?

“Home Alone; it’s an absolute classic and Christmas wouldn’t be the same without it. It’s the go-to film for us.”

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

“Crete; I absolutely love going there. We stay in a place called Piskopiano which is linked with a couple of other small villages.

“It’s the pace of life there, and more importantly, it’s the great food and wine. We find it the perfect place to just wind down and relax.”

What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?

“Within my career, I’ve travelled extensively across Europe and the rest of the world, and I’ve always said that I’d love to speak a second language. I’ve always been drawn to French, as I’ve spent a lot of time in France.”
