Colleague Spotlight: Wayne Eskins

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Wayne Eskins, Sales Support Lead at Powell Gee. With a career rooted in the roofing and cladding industry, Wayne discusses supporting customers, progressing from the warehouse into sales, and his passion for cycling – including completing a 100-mile ride.

What is your role at The Tibbetts Group?

“My role within Powell Gee is Sales Support Lead. The role includes speaking with customers over the phone, processing sales orders accurately and efficiently, and providing any technical support to help resolve any product or order related queries.”

How long have you worked at The Tibbetts Group?

“I’ve now been with Powell Gee for 14 months.”

What is your favourite aspect of your role?

“I’m enjoying speaking to Powell Gee customers and getting to learn a variety of processes, including moulding and powder coating which Powell Gee provide in-house for screw modifications.”

Are there any significant projects which you are currently working on?

“I’m currently focused on ensuring our customers continue to receive high-quality products and service from Powell Gee.”

Have you worked in this role throughout your career?

“I have always worked in the roofing and cladding industry; I began my career with CFT by starting in the warehouse, where I developed a strong understanding of products and the operational side. I then worked my way up through the business.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

“Outside of work, I enjoy meals out and the odd weekend away. Now with my longer commute I’m enjoying a variety of podcasts.”

Do you have a particularly interesting hobby?

“I have always enjoyed cycling from an early age, starting with racing BMX and now I enjoy both mountain biking and road cycling.

“One of my proudest achievements was completing the Birmingham Velo, where I successfully rode 100 miles.”

Do you follow a sports team?

“I enjoy watching a variety of sports, with motorsport being a favourite. I particularly enjoy watching the F1 championship, with the Mclaren F1 team at the top of the list.”

What is your favourite film or television genre?

“The Big Bang Theory is a firm favourite, but I can happily watch endless episodes of Top Gear.

“Amongst my favourite films has to be any from the original Star Wars franchise, I also have also enjoyed The Italian Job which may have influenced my first choice of car – which of course was a Mini.”

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

“I enjoy traveling when I have the opportunity; my wife and I have recently returned from Cape Verde which we would love to go back to in the future.”

What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?

“A few years ago, I passed my CBT motorcycle training which unfortunately has now expired, but I would love to renew it and eventually get my full motorcycle licence and try out some bigger more powerful bikes.”
