What is your role at The Tibbetts Group?
“As Group Operations Director, under my remit I have seven sites currently – that includes all our warehousing, sub-assembly, IT, quality & environmental systems and facilities.
“My role varies on a day-to-day basis, and within our ERP system we have a management dashboard to make sure that things are on track. Every day is different; you have to come in with a plan.
“I have good team of direct reports that support me and drive the systems, seeing how we can get the best out of our data and always looking to continually improve process and system.”
How long have you worked at The Tibbetts Group?
“12 years – it was my anniversary on Monday.”
What is your favourite aspect of your role?
“I enjoy working with the people, and the variety of my role. I get to work with lots of people at different levels and with different skillsets, so I love the variety that brings.”
Are there any significant projects which you are currently working on?
“We’re currently working on the business intelligence roadmap, working with that dataset and making that work for us.
“I’m always looking for improvements in our processes, such as furthering warehouse efficiency, seeing how we can lower our paper usage, and more.
“We’ve also got our warehouse digital project which has launched at TGL. The plan is for us to make sure we’re comfortable with it, before rolling out across all divisions. That’s a major project.”
What are your future goals?
“My main focus is about my team and about how I can become a better coach and mentor to bring those guys on and create a succession plan for me.”
Have you worked in this role throughout your career?
“Prior to The Tibbetts Group, I worked in a corporate role as a Management Accountant. After being made redundant, I had my youngest daughter, and wanted to come back part-time and found my role at The Tibbetts Group as Quality Administrator.
“As the business grew, I wanted to do more and more and follow that growth. I’ve done various roles throughout the business, and this is where my path has led me to.”
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“I’ve got two teenage daughters, so they keep me on my toes! I’m really family orientated.
“I also enjoy socialising with my circle of friends; it ends up being a bit like Come Dine With Me as friends visit to have some food and drink. We’ve got quite a social hub in the garden, which is nice.”
Do you have a particularly interesting hobby?
“In my younger days, I was really into Formula 1. I did a lot of work at Silverstone; I worked for Jackie Stewart, Eddie Jordan, and I really enjoyed mixing with and looking after their guests.”
Do you follow a sports team?
“I live in a Liverpool Football Club-supporting house, so by default I support the reds.
“Anything live, like music or sport, I love.”
What is your favourite film or television genre?
“I’m really into CSI, forensic, mystery stuff. I love all of that.”
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
“At the moment, I’m trying to get as many countries as possible under my belt.
“Greece is up there at the moment. I’ve visited a lot of Europe, and Cuba was amazing. I’d like to go back to Cuba to see the difference since I last visited 20 years ago.”
What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?
“I’d love to be better at languages. At school, I did Spanish, French and German. When I go abroad, I use a combination of all three. I’d love to concentrate on one, and perfect that.”
